In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Korean culture, and generosity, OTRL hosted a remarkable fundraising event that left attendees delighted and deeply moved. The event, held on Saturday, 10 February at Wycliffe Hall, brought all attendees together for an evening of music, culinary delights, and fun-filled activities—all in support of Project Antioch, which sends theological books to a library in need in the Majority World from Oxford in partnership with Book Aid.
The highlight of the evening was a mesmerising recital featuring pianist Yang, Jjyeon, and violinist Lee, Kibaek, whose enchanting melodies resonated throughout the venue, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness. The audience was treated to a diverse repertoire, showcasing the exceptional talent that graced the event.
In a touch of poetic elegance, the evening featured the reading of a heartfelt Korean poem and lyrics. These verses added a layer of introspection and beauty to the event, emphasising stories of the past and present of Korean history.
Adding a flavorful touch to the evening, attendees were treated to an authentic Korean dish, Bibimbap. The delightful spread featured an array of mouthwatering vegetables on rice. Guests also sampled Korean drinks like rice wine, rice spirit, and silky soft drinks.
The event wasn't just about the senses; it also catered to the playful side of attendees with games. Laughter echoed as participants engaged in friendly name bingo and jegi-chagi, creating a lighthearted and enjoyable atmosphere.
The evening was marked by the success of the fundraising efforts, meeting the target of £1,000. The funds raised will go directly to Book Aid, allowing the shipment of a pallet to the theological library in need.
OTRL expresses sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event—performers, volunteers, and attendees alike. 옥스포드 신학 자료 링크 (OTRL) 단체는 음력 설을 맞아 한국 문화 및 풍성한 나눔을 주제로 한 배송 기금 마련 행사를 개최했습니다. 이 행사는 2월 10일 토요일에 옥스포드 대학교 신학 대학교인 위클리프 홀에서 열렸으며 참석자들을 하나로 묶어주는 작은 음악회와, 풍성한 한국 음식을 맛보며 그리고 재미있는 한국 전통 놀이를 즐기는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이 행사의 목적은 OTRL이 Book Aid와 함께 협력하여 신학 도서 부족으로 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 한 나라의 작은 신학 도서관에 1만권의 신학 학술서를 보내는 '프로젝트 안티오크'를 지원하기 위한 것이었습니다. 이 1만권으로 도서는 그 나라의 정부로부터 이 신학교가 정식학교로 허가를 받는데 꼭 필요한 조건이라고 합니다.
이 날의 하이라이트는 전문 연주자로 한국에서 활발하게 활동 중이신 피아니스트 양 주연씨과 옥스포드 대학생이자 바이올리니스트이신 이 기백씨가 함께 하는 매혹적인 작은 연주회였습니다. 고향의 봄, 고향, 아리랑 랩소티가 가득 강의실 넓게 울려 퍼져 기쁨과 화합의 분위기를 멋지게 조성했습니다. 관객들은 한국 애창곡, 신가곡, 그리고 아리랑 레퍼토리를 유연하고 신나게 연주한 이 두분의 음악가들의 탁월한 재능에 큰 박수와 찬사를 보냈습니다.
이 연주 직전에 윤동주 시인의 '바람이 불어'라는 시와 '고향의 봄' 가사 낭독하여 연주를 감상하면서 그 이면에 깃들여진 한국의 과거와 현재 의 역사에 대한 고찰을 해 볼 수 있는 기회를 제공하였습니다. 윤동주 시인의 '바람이 불어'는 찰스왕이 2023년 윤대통령의 영국 국빈 방문시에 만찬에서 낭독하였었고, '고향의 봄'을 선정한 이유는 몇주 전에 BBC 4에서 방영된 북한 탈주민들의 여정을 찍은 다큐멘터리에서 탈북민들이 긴장속에서 이 노래를 부르는 장면처럼 남북 모두에게 사랑받는 인기 애창곡이기 때문이라는 뒷이야기가 있답니다.
또한 저녁으로 다채로운 색색가지의 야채가 올려진 비빔밥이 제공되어 참석자들이 진정한 한국을 맛보는 시간을 가졌습니다. 그뿐아니라 전통주인 막걸리, 소주, 그리고 밀키스와 배주스등의 다양한 마실거리의 시음의 장도 마련되어 각광을 받았습니다. 남아 어린이 한복과 아름다운 여성 한복도 준비되어 많은 분들이 한복체험하여 한국 전통의복의 아름다움을 알게하였습니다 .
이렇게 오감을 즐겁게 자극하는 시간 뿐만 아니라 참석자들에게 한국의 흥과 신을 맛보게 하기 위해서 가벼운 게임들도 준비되었는데 참가자들이 서로 이름을 알며 친해지기에 좋은 이름 빙고와 전통 제기 차기로 웃음과 친숙해지는 시간을 보냈습니다. 또한 총 25개의 퀴즈로 준비된 한국을 알기라는 핸드폰을 이용한 실시간 온라인 게임으로 한국 문화와 종교, 정치, 북한의 실정 등에 대한 지식을 테스트하는 재미있는 기회도 가졌습니다.
이 날 목표로 세운 £1,000가 성공적 달성되고도 초과되어 총 £1,110가 모금 되었습니다. 이 기부금은 직접 Book Aid로 보내져 도서 배송비에 쓰여질 것입니다. 아직 3만 파운드에는 많이 부족하지만 이런 작은 행사 하나하나가 모여 올해 말에 배로 보내질 컨테이너의 수송비가 결국 하느님의 은혜안에서 모여지리라 기도합니다.
