Project Antioch

So far, generous donations from Book Aid Charitable Trust have helped us reach the 10,000 theological books mark for the theological research centre's accreditation.  However, additional financial support is needed to fund the donor charity's continued operations and to ship the books. For all related costs, we request £30,000 be donated to Book Aid.  

북 에이드라는 단체를 통하여 신학 연구 센터를 정부로 부터 정식으로 허가 받는 데 필요한 1만권의 책이 예상보다 쉽게 확보되었습니다.  이렇게 첫 포문이 열리기는 했습니다만 이 책들을 배송하기 위해서는 3만 파운드라는 금액이 필요합니다.   

As of January 2024, the books are to be packaged and inventoried starting in the next few months.  The books will then be shipped out before the year's end.  we have been working on shipping and customs matters, made slightly more complicated by recent shipping disruptions in the region. In the end, Book Aid will package, palletise, and ship all books to their destination.

2024년 1월 현재로부터 앞으로의 몇달 동안은 도서들이 박스에 포장되고 그리고 목록을 정리하는 그런 작업을 진행할 예정입니다.  그리하여 연말에 책들을 배송하자 하는 목표로 진행 중입니다. .  최근 선박을 통한 해양 배송에 차질이 생겨서 지연됨과 함께 통관 문제도 쉽지 않을 것으로 보여서 많은 노력과 시간이 소요될 것으로 보입니다.  이 모든 것을 북에이드와 저희 자원봉사 프로젝트 리더들이 함께 주관하여 일해 나갈 것입니다.    

We are deeply grateful for Book Aid's support, and for the many donors who have provided them books over the years.  To assist their operations, we request financial support be provided to them.  Project Antioch is nonstandard for them, so we are asking that they devote more time and resources than is normally possible.  Book Aid staff have been enthusiastic in return, excited about the long-term impact of theological training for those who will benefit from this new research centre. 

1. Donate Fund: Please consider contributing to the operations and shipping costs by donating directly to Book Aid here.  ake sure to write “ANT/Surname”.   Providing your surname and an “Antioch” reference is the best way for Book Aid to keep track of donations specifically set aside for Antioch. Otherwise, the anonymity of donations might be taken as a “general donation.”

2. Pray: Financial assistance is a great need of ours, as is prayer that this project may be fruitful. Reach out to the Prayer webpage to learn our prayer request updates from here  

3. Spread the Word: Consider telling others about Project Antioch, whether they are part of your network or church.

북 에이드의 지원과 그리고 책을 아낌없이 기증해주신 모든 기증자 분들에게도 깊은 감사의 마음을 전합니다.  여러분들께 북 에이드가 이 프로젝트를 실행하는데 필요한 운영 자금을 조달하기 위해 필요한 금전적인 지원을 요청합니다.  프로젝트 안티옥은 평소 북 에이드가 진행 해왔던 다른 사업과는 달리 좀 더 어렵고 특수한 상황아래서 진행되기에 더 많은 시간과 자원이 투입되어야 한답니다.  그럼에도 불구하고 북 에이드 직원들은 이 프로젝트로 인해서 생길 새 연구소가 이 지역의 신학 교육에 미칠 긍정적인 영향력에 많이 고무되어 있습니다.

We have a dedicated team of individuals who devote their time and effort to our project.  We dispatch books that are specifically chosen by receiving librarians.  This requires our project leaders to diligently create book donation lists for librarians in need.  Subsequently, books are packed according to their selection. 

Chloe Heung

I am a student at Wycliffe Hall, studying theology.  Here in Oxford, we have wonderful libraries and all the books that I need for my studies.  When I first heard about Project Antioch, I was moved by how difficult it is to get theological books in another country. I hope to be a part of a team to build a theology library in a restricted context.  

저는 옥스포드 대학교의 신학 칼리지인 위클리프 홀에서 학부 공부를 하고 있는 학생입니다. 여기 옥스포드에는 훌륭한 도서관이 많고 그리고 제 공부에 필요한 온갖 책들이 풍부하게 있답니다. 안티옥 프로젝트에 대해 처음으로 들었을때 다른 나라에서 신학책을 구하는 것이 얼마나 힘든지를 알게 되어 제 마음이 많이 아팠답니다.  종교 정치적 제재가 있음에도 불구하고 신학도서관을 설립하려는 일에 동참하고자 합니다.

As a student, I am excited to support this venture.  It's one of the most meaningful projects I've been involved with in Oxford. Project Antioch can help so many who presently lack theological resources, to enable study and reflection using difficult-to-find books.  

옥스포드 대학교 학생으로써 이 일에 참여하게 되어 정말 기쁘답니다. 제가 옥스포드 있는 동안 동참한 일중에 가장 의미깊은 것이 이 일이랍니다. 안티옥 프로젝트는 신학책 자료가 부족한 많은 이들에게 구하기 힘든 책들을 제공하여 이로 해 더욱 깊이 있는 연구와 고찰이 이루어지도록 도움을 주고자  합니다.

The Apostle Paul showed the value of the written word when he asked Timothy to bring his ‘books, especially the parchments’ (2 Timothy 4:13). As a Christian and committed book lover, I am grateful for the opportunity to assist with this project. It is my hope and prayer that the books we are sending out will foster intellectual and spiritual growth. As a student of church history, I am reflecting on Bishop Thomas Valpy French (1825-1891), who after a long life of missionary work in Asia, donated his library to Lahore’s Cathedral Church and St. John’s Divinity School. French’s generosity inspires me to help another generation of theological students by getting much needed books into their hands.
